One of my favorite things about homeschooling is celebrating (and learning about) the holidays with my kids! There’s good food to make, stories to read, art projects and crafts to make–but there’s also great music to share! I love music–however, this is one of my weakest subjects when it comes to teaching my kids! That means–I tend to skip over it…But now there’s a new curriculum created just for moms like me! Short and sweet–fun lessons, created to help homeschool moms incorporate music to holiday lessons and celebrations!
Music Lessons for the Holidays
Music educator and homeschooling mom of 8–Gena Mayo (Creator of Music in Our Homeschool Curriculum) has created a new online course for elementary students: Music Lessons for Holidays & Special Days!
The 36 Lessons include holidays such as:
- New Year’s Day
- St. Patrick’s Day
- Easter
- Fourth of July
- Veterans Day
- Thanksgiving
- Christmas
Plus fun special days like:
- Star Wars Day/May the Fourth
- Talk Like a Pirate Day
- Dr. Seuss Day
Each lesson includes:
- Information about the holiday or special day
- Videos of the music to listen to or watch
- At least one printable
- An online quiz

I used the St. Patrick’s Day lesson with my kindergarten son and preschool daughters–they were mesmerized by the Irish instruments and dancing! We just snuggled on the couch with our iPad–easy and no-prep work for me!
Other mom’s are loving Music Lessons for Holidays and Special Days too…
Help Where We Need It
I am so thankful for experts like Gena–who help me fill in the gaps where my own experiences are a little bit lacking! I could spend hours pouring over YouTube and Pinterest for resources–but in all honesty…there isn’t a lot of time for that! I’d love to hear how you are teaching music in your homeschool!
Happy teaching and celebrating the holidays with your kids!
With Love,
Jen xo
